Colorado Employers: The Colorado Wage Claim Act was recently amended with several new provisions.

Changes include:

  • personal liability for wage violations for business owners who own or control more than 25% of the business
  • limits on wage deductions that reduce an employee’s pay below the applicable minimum wage, and
  • increased penalties for misclassification of independent contractors, among other developments.

Colorado employers should review their wage payment and worker classification practices to ensure compliance.
