New York employers:
As part of the 2025-2026 budget, New York has increased the fees to be paid for jury duty service. As a result, under the revised law, employers in New York who employ more than 10 employees must pay the first $72 of their employees’ daily wages during the first three days of jury service. Previously, such employers were required to pay the first $40 of wages for the first three days of services.
Many employers pay more than $72 per day, and nothing in the law or this amendment prohibits employers from paying more than the statutory minimum.
Employers who only pay the minimum required should review their jury service policy to ensure that the correct amount is stated, and paid.
