Missouri Paid Sick Leave Law Applies to Employers of All Sizes

Attention Missouri employers:

On May 1, 2025, Missouri’s paid sick leave law went into effect and applies to companies of all sizes. Under Missouri’s new law, covered employees will be entitled to accrue 1 hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked with no cap on accrual.

Employees who work for employers with 15+ employees will be permitted to use up to 56 hours of sick time per year and those who work for smaller employers can use up to 40 hours per year. Employers will also be required to allow employees to carry over up to 80 hours of accrued, unused sick time into the next calendar year, unless they pay out unused time at the end of the year and frontload the full sick time allotment in the next calendar year.
