Reminder for NYC Employers!

Starting on May 11, 2025, you will be required to post a copy of your lactation accommodations policy both in the physical office and on the company’s intranet. Employers were already required to distribute this policy to all employees at the start of employment.

In addition to including details on lactation accommodations and lactation room requirements, the posted and distributed policy should include information about New York State’s lactation break law that went into effect in June 2024. This law requires employers to provide paid breaks of 30 minutes each time an employee needs to express breast milk for their nursing child.

As a reminder, New York State already requires employers to make digital copies of workplace posters available to New York employees. In addition to physically posting all required labor posters, employers can add them to the company’s intranet (if they have one) or make the posters available to employees by email.

Reach out to counsel with any questions on your workplace policies and poster requirements.
