New York employers: As you know, the state’s Paid Family Leave mandate provides eligible employees with up to 12 weeks of job protected leave paid at 67% of their average weekly wage, up to a cap of 67% of the then-current New York State Average Weekly Wage (NYSAWW). Please be aware that for 2025, the NYSAWW will be $1,757.19, which means the maximum weekly benefit will be $1,177.32.
These insurance payments are funded by employee payroll contributions, with the rate of and cap on such contributions determined by the state each year. For 2025, employees will contribute 0.388% of their gross wages per pay period, with a maximum annual contribution of $354.53.
Employers should consult with their New York Paid Family Leave insurance carriers to ensure these changes are being implemented as of January 1, 2025. More information is available here: New York Paid Family Leave Updates for 2025 | Paid Family Leave
