New York City Employers!

As previously reported on PERKS, recent legislation passed that would require NYC employers to provide employees with a Bill of Rights. The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection has published the Workers Know Your Rights Poster. The 1-page poster includes a QR code to the City’s Works’ Bill of Rights webpage, which provides information regarding city, state, and federal employment protections.

By July 1, 2024, NYC employers are required to:

  1. post the poster in the workplace,
  2. distribute the poster to current employees, and
  3. provide the poster to new hires going forward. The poster also needs to be posted to an employer’s intranet or mobile app if “such means are regularly used to communicate” with employees.

NYC employers should make sure to update their workplace/intranet postings and onboarding notices to include the new poster.
