Big Apple Employers: The New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection has issued a final rule amending the New York City Earned Safe and Sick Time Act Rules.

To recap, back in September 2020, the New York City Earned Safe and Sick Time Act was amended largely to align with the New York State Paid Sick Leave Law, though some other new requirements went into effect as well. However, the corresponding Earned Safe and Sick Time Act rules remained out of date.

The final rule (available below) takes effect October 15, 2023. Among other highlights are updates to the required components needed in employers’ written sick time policies. Now is a good time to get in touch with your D+G Labor and Employment contact and ensure your policies are up-to-date.
