NYC Employers: Another pay transparency development for you! On the heels of the NYC pay transparency law that went into effect in November 2022 and the state’s enactment of its own pay transparency law (effective September 17, 2023), the City Council has introduced a bill (Int 0907-2023) that would amend NYC’s pay transparency law to require, among other things, an employer to post a job description and non-salary or non-wage compensation in any posting, and annually (or upon an employee’s request) disclose the range of compensation for each position.
The proposed legislation would take effect 180 days after becoming law, so in the event amendments are passed, we expect the City would release further guidance prior to the effective date. Your D+G Labor and Employment Team is keeping tabs on this development and will provide updates as appropriate.
