San Francisco Employers: Reminder that the following Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO) deadlines are approaching for all covered employers, generally, employers with 20 or more employees (including employees working outside of San Francisco):

  • January 30 – Employers with (i) fully insured plans or (ii) employees who waived the employer’s self-insured health plan coverage, must calculate and satisfy their 2022 Q4 health care expenditures by this date. Examples of health care expenditures include:
    • Payments for health, dental, and/or vision insurance for employees and their spouses and dependents
    • Payments to the SF City Option on behalf of employees
    • Contributions to HSAs
  • February 28 – Employers with self-insured health plans must calculate and satisfy their 2022 calendar year health care expenditures for all employees enrolled in such coverage.
